Geology. Runcu Gorge are cut in crystalline limestone and dolomite belonging to the facies of amphibolites from the Vladeasa-Muntele Mare crystalline mountain (mica, paragneiss), over which, in the eastern side, there are Cretacic sedimentary formations: limestone, conglomerates, sandstone, marls (campanian ai??i??santonian) and flis sandstone.

The relief is characteristic for the limestone, where the common erosion combined with the karstification processes. Ocolis Creek Valley deepened on an area of 950-1,050 m, may be a levelling surface leaning towards the Eastern slope of the mountain and then becoming a lower peripheral area. Due to the non-homogenous spreading of the limestone, the transversal profile of the gorge is asymmetrical, with a reversed symmetry compared to the general lowering of the topographic surface: steep left slope, with secondary ridges, tanks, chimneys; the right slope has a relatively high inclination, most of it is covered by forests. To the base it is steep and rocky.

Hydrography. Except for the Ocolis Creek, which crosses the gorge along 1.8 km and it has a permanent water flow, the surface network is represented by ravines with temporary water flow. There is also a karstic underground circulation.

Predominant soils: are those made on limestone, but the rock is visible on a large area, uncovered by soil or covered by blocks and debris. In some places, humic-calcic soils accumulated, very little developed, maintained just like a network by the roots and organic debris. On the non-carbonated rocks from the West area (the buffer zone), acid and brown podzolic soils appeared.

Vegetation. Most part of the vegetation is represented by the beech forest (Fagus sylvatica) and beech mixed with oak (Quercus petraea Best cannabis seeds bank ). The herbaceous layer is represented by Festuca rubra, Poa nemmoralis, Chrysanthemum corymbosum, and on the sunny slopes with a thin layer of soil and rock underlayer, rocky lawns found their place, The forest has secondary meadows used as pastures and the surfaces inclined from the East, South-East from the Plesa Runcurilior Peak, bushes appear, but most of the area is covered with calcofile species, specific to the phytocenoses developed on limestone lands.
